The Highline Trail, Arizona

Colorado Mountain Expeditions offers slackpacking trips along The Highline National Recreation Trail in Arizona, allowing you to hike the entire trail in just one week while carrying only a daypack. Each day, the camp moves along the trail, so you can cover more ground comfortably while still enjoying the full backcountry experience.

You’ll explore rugged canyons, remote ridgelines, and hidden washes, taking in breathtaking desert landscapes and unique terrain that most travelers never see. Frequently Asked Hiking Trip Questions

Colorado Mountain Expeditions trips are fully supported and all-inclusive on the trail. The trip price includes all meals and snacks throughout the journey, professional guiding, and transportation during the trip. We take care of the logistics so you can focus on hiking, exploring incredible landscapes, and enjoying a seamless backcountry experience from start to finish.

What is not included?

Trip pricing does not include travel to and from the trip’s starting location, personal hiking gear like your daypack and water bottles, clothing, or gratuities for guides.

Any lodging before or after the trip and personal purchases are also not included unless specifically noted on the trip registration page.

While its true that some of our trips are very difficult with long days of hiking, we do offer a wide variety of trips that cater to all abilities. View the "Schedule and Profile" tab of any trip registration page to see more details about hiking milage and difficulty. Our national park trips typcially offer a wider variety of easy to intermediate hiking. Several of our national park trips give guests an option between an easy and harder hike each day with the group splitting in two to accomplish their selected hike.

If you are looking to book one of our trips we highly encourage you place your deposit as soon as you've found the trip thats right for you. 
If you and some friends are looking to join the same trip, you should all book at the same time. We don't offer refunds becuase part of your group waited until a week after you booked your spot and now the trip is sold out. 
Colorado Mountain Expeditions will cover the cost of all entrance fees for all legal US residents in the group. Due to a change in federal regulations, non-residents will need to pay their own entrance fees. You can find more info about non-resident entrance fees here. 
If you have an America the Beautiful Pass or another type of interagency pass please bring it with you on the trip. 
Yes! If you need to rent a tent, sleeping bags, or a sleeping pad, please visit this page.
