Starting in Clinton and finishing in St. Charles, this 240-mile journey follows the longest continuous rail-trail in the United States. Glide along crushed limestone paths, parallel to the Missouri River, through charming small towns, rolling farmland, shaded forests, and Missouri wine country. Each day offers new sights, from historic train depots and quirky roadside landmarks to vineyards and river vistas.

Reserve Your Spot Today – Limited to 14 riders.

Riding with a small group of just 14 participants makes this trip a truly personal experience. You’ll have the chance to get to know your fellow riders, share stories along the trail, and enjoy a supportive, friendly atmosphere that’s hard to find in larger rides. Every detail is handled by your guides, giving you more time to relax, connect, and savor the journey.

Why the Katy Trail Is Special

The Katy Trail traces the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad corridor, providing a unique blend of history, natural beauty, and accessible cycling. Its mostly flat, crushed limestone path allows riders to focus on the scenery rather than the effort, making it ideal for all skill levels. Along the trail, you’ll discover historic train depots converted into shaded picnic areas, enjoy breathtaking views of the Missouri River, and ride through scenic vineyards with opportunities for wine tastings in Hermann and Augusta. Quirky landmarks like BoatHenge and Missouri’s largest burr oak add memorable stops, while charming small towns offer inviting inns, cafés, and local markets to explore.

Every mile tells a story, from the railroad era to today’s vibrant trail communities.

Your Guides

This trip is led by Dan and Emily Weida, owners of Colorado Mountain Expeditions, who grew up in Missouri exploring the Katy Trail on weekends with their families. Dan even completed a multi-day ride as a 10-year-old from Clinton to Columbia with his family and friends, giving him a lifelong connection to the trail and a deep understanding of its rhythm and charm.

You’ll have experienced guides riding alongside the group, providing guidance, encouragement, and support each day. A SAG vehicle and support team handle luggage transfers and logistics, so you can focus on riding, sightseeing, and sharing the adventure. From route navigation to rest stops and meals, your guides ensure every detail is taken care of.

Yes—very common. Across our hiking, biking, and art trips, a large percentage of our guests sign up solo. These experiences are designed to bring together people who share a passion for the outdoors and adventure, so you’ll be joining a group of like-minded individuals from day one. Our guides foster a welcoming, inclusive environment that makes it easy to connect—whether you’re on the trail, or relaxing back at camp.

We also regularly have couples and small groups of friends join our trips, which adds to the overall dynamic and makes each group unique. No matter how people arrive, everyone quickly blends into one cohesive group. There’s no pressure—just a supportive, social atmosphere where you can engage as much or as little as you’d like.

By the end of the week, it’s common for solo travelers to leave with new friendships and future adventure partners. Many guests find that coming alone actually enhances the experience, giving them the opportunity to fully immerse themselves and meet new people along the way.
